The Truth About Fanservice

*Sexually-explicit content discussed*

Ever since I began watching anime three years ago, fan service was a recurring theme that I knew would not be going away. “Giving the fans exactly what they want” is what I was told it was, but I soon realized that it was much more than that. Men and women coming back again and again to Japanese media filled with sexually-charged content is what I saw and it soon became acceptable in my mind, a part of anime that would never disappear. I can openly admit that in my past I had consumed a lot of sexualized anime in the form of fan service, both softcore and hardcore. I had done it all and seen it all: every fetish, trope and outfit. Most importantly, I am a living testimony that breaks the common misconception that a “good Christian man” like myself would know nothing about fan service. In fact, I know more about the sexualized subsection of otaku culture than most people.

Fan service, whether you know it or not, tries its best to give people expressions of sexuality that were only meant to be experienced with a partner of the opposite biological sex. In anime, these are seen through common tropes and situations that are a staple to the media like panty shots, boob grabs, bikini scenes, etc. Some may see these actions as innocent pleasure to the viewer, harming no one and thus being justifiable. However, there is a lot more going on under the surface with our hearts that works to destroy intimacy with our future spouses by stealing sexual purity. Based on what I’ve seen fanservice do to myself and being a follower of Jesus, I can never agree with it and try my best to avoid it when watching a show. As a man who reveals the truth, let’s start calling fanservice by the beast that it truly is: pornography.  Continue reading “The Truth About Fanservice”

Christian Fatherhood From Goku

Fatherhood taken from a Biblical standpoint is the toughest job that a man can undertake. The male takes charge of his family out of Christ-like selflessness and leads his children to follow the precepts of the Lord. He is held responsible for the outcome of his family and gives an account to God for his work. Most importantly, he should live a life similar to Christ so that others can see the faith that he has and be a positive example to his kids.  Continue reading “Christian Fatherhood From Goku”

Anime Piracy

With access to emerging technologies and increased internet access, it has become easier than ever to pirate episodes of anime. The process has become as simple as going onto Kissanime or Sidereel and clicking on a series to watch for free, changing the way that people view shows. Laws and regulations have been put into place, attempting to stop the public from using these illegal sources for illegal activities, yet society still puts these websites into service; hardly any punishments or none at all have come to them. Misconceptions About Judging How Good An Anime Is

Everyone has their own mental checklist that they go through when they are deciding how much they like an anime; some people have an extremely strict view on what series are worth their time while others have absolutely no filters whatsoever. I am no exception to this, and have my own ideas about what truly sets one anime apart from the rest.

For me personally, I believe that all series can be judged on a universal scale that is done without bias, and that there are obvious traits that make some shows stand high above others. With this in mind, I think that most people in the anime community that I have seen hold skewed thoughts about what a good anime is, and are too stubborn to change their minds. I wanted to share some of the major flaws that I find in their thinking, and expose the largest proponents of bias that I see within most people because I believe that removing outside influential factors will allow you to further analyze a show with a different view than before. Where You Can Watch Anime Legally In 2016

For me personally, the question on my brain has constantly been, “Where can I watch anime legally in 2016?” Being caught into traps from websites such as Kissanime and Sidereel, I had the propensity to give my favorite creators credit for the anime that they create, while still watching anime with a moral breathing room. I discovered that organizations and groups that try to selfishly watch shows without giving the proper funds or receiving the correct permission are technically stealing, and did not want to have any part in that. So for the conveince of you, I have provided a coherent list of streaming sites that allow for free and paid anime watching, (all sources and credit goes to TheOSAG). All sites are currently available to the United States and some surrounding countries: Continue reading “Where You Can Watch Anime Legally In 2016”
